Absolute Bridal Feature – A Reid Rooms Wedding: I am very pleased to see one of my weddings has been featured in Absolute Bridal Magazine – Autumn 2015 – Issue 20 (www.mainweddingsandevents.co.uk/absolute-bridal-magazine/) in association with Main Event Wedding Shows Ltd (www.mainweddingsandevents.co.uk).
How Nicky and Jason said “I do”.
The Reid Rooms offered everything they wanted for their big day.
We first met on a night out in Chicago’s, Chelmsford in November 2007. Despite Jason being a bit worse for wear I still decided to go on a first date with him to La Tasca for a meal and then a few drinks in The Bar in Chelmsford.
Jason proposed whilst on a holiday in Rome. We were there for my 30th birthday in October 2011. He popped the question at the Colosseum.
After researching over 50 venues we decided to have our Wedding Ceremony and Evening Reception at the Reid Rooms.
We short-listed 7 venues in Essex and we then visited them all. The Reid Rooms was our favourite venue on paper and we viewed this last, they say you leave the best ’til last – they are right!
We wanted the wedding to be a fun, relaxed and less formal affair. We chose to have a small number of day guests as we wanted our ceremony to be intimate, followed by a big party in the evening to celebrate with all our family and friends.
The Reid Rooms was everything we were looking for. The flexibility of the venue allowed us to choose our own suppliers and to style our wedding using our own ideas. We always liked the look of an old style barn and the original beams, warmth and comfortable feel of the venue attracted us. We had 50 day guests with an extra 80 evening guests.
The Maid of Honour was Kim and the Bridesmaid was Lleah. I also had their daughters Lilly and Delilah as our Flower Girls. My brother’s girlfriend Beth was also part of my Bridal party, assisting with the younger Flower Girls as our head Flower Girl.
We opted for an out of season wedding because there is never any guarantee that having a summer wedding will mean that you would have a lovely dry day. That and the added cost a summer wedding brings, especially on a Saturday. When choosing which out of season month we wanted to go for the overriding factor in the decision was that our anniversary is on the 9th February, so we chose that month.
For the Evening Reception we had a DJ who played our selection of music throughout the night. He was fantastic and kept the dance floor filled. We provided a sweet table and disposable cameras and games in the sitting room to keep the children entertained. The thing we liked most with the Reid Rooms is the different rooms available for the evening so people could either enjoy the party in the main Reception room or chill out in the Breakfast room or relax in the sitting room where there were comfy sofas and a lovely log fire.
