Henry Moore Studios and Gardens Wedding Photography: On Saturday I photographed Nicola and Glen’s wedding at a very unique wedding venue, the Henry Moore Studios and Gardens (https://www.henry-moore.org/visit/henry-moore-studios-gardens) part of the Henry Moore Foundation, in Perry Green, Hertfordshire.
I met up with the bridal party at The Manor of Groves Hotel (https://www.manorofgroves.com/) in Sawbridgeworth where they were getting ready. I was forecast as an overcast day with some sunny spells, warm and humid. My aim on the blog is to tell the story of the wedding day using a mix of natural/candid photographs as well as a couple of posed shots. I try to be as unobtrusive as I can and people only usually notice me after I’ve taken the natural shot.
I then took the short trip to Perry Green and caught up with the groom at The Hoops Inn (https://www.thehoopsatperrygreen.com/) enjoying a drink in the beer garden. Looked like a lovely country pub, I will have to go back and sample their delights soon.
It was time to move on to the Henry Moore Foundation, or to be more precise the Henry Moore Studios and Gardens at Perry Green, just a short walk from the pub. Henry Spencer Moore (1898-1986) was one of the most important British artists of the twentieth century and many of his sculptures are on display in the gardens. The wedding was taking place in the 16th century, traditionally timbered Aisled Barn which is decorated with unique Moore tapestries. They also had a large tipi tent for the drinks reception which is ideal on sunny days to get some shade.
The aisled barn looked stunning, with amazing flower decorations.
Paddy and Lloyd (https://www.facebook.com/PaddyandLloyd/) played for the ceremony, and also through the drinks reception. They are very talented, sounded amazing, the perfect blend of harmonies, a mix of gentle and upbeat music ideal for any wedding day.
After lots of natural shots and some group photographs everyone went in for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The catering was by Host Catering (http://hostcatering.co.uk/) from Bishops Stortford and their food was great!
After the meal the party continued out by the tipi.
As it had been quite hot earlier in the day, we opted to do the wedding portraits after the meal, when the light was softer and the air was cooler. I wanted to get a mixed selection, and to use some of the sculptures as well.
It wasn’t long before the couple cut the cake and had their first dance.
Me and Him (http://meandhimband.co.uk/) were the party band for the night and got the party started.
It was a bit too cloudy for a sunset, so we opted for a dramatic sky shot instead.
I had a great time with Nicola and Glen photographing their wedding. A big thanks to Jules and the team at Henry Moore Foundation, as well as the other people I worked with on the day including Lucy and the team from Host, Paddy, Lloyd, Chris and Lee for making this wedding special.
